What is Tonic in search arbitrage?
Tonic is a search monetisation platform for media buyers, part of Team Internet Group, a company listed in London. Buyers create campaigns in Tonic, send paid traffic from approved sources to pages it hosts, and receive a share of the search ad revenue. It became well known for native-to-search and now operates mainly on Google's Related Search on Content.
Tonic is a hosted feed: the provider holds the search engine relationship and hosts the landers, and the buyer brings traffic. It offers tracking integrations, reporting by keyword and rules on which sources and creatives are allowed.
Its parent shows how hard the transition has been. Team Internet reported first-half 2025 gross revenue of $263.9 million against $409.7 million a year earlier as AdSense for Domains income fell away, and reportedly cut around 200 jobs after September 2025. For the first half of 2026 it reported a return to operating profit, with Search at 13% of net revenue and a strategic review under way. Buyers using any hosted platform should watch the provider's health as closely as their own campaigns.
