Related Search on Content (RSOC)
Related Search on Content is a Google AdSense for Search feature that shows search suggestions on an article, each leading to an ad-carrying results page on the same site.
Related Search on Content, usually shortened to RSOC, is the format most Google-based search arbitrage runs on today. Google's own name is "related search for content". A publisher places a unit on a content page that lists search terms related to the article. When a visitor clicks a term, they go to a search results page on the publisher's site, and that second page shows ads. Revenue comes only from clicks on those ads, so it is a two-click flow.
To use it a publisher needs an AdSense for Search contract, must submit a mock-up for review and must follow the Product-Integrated Feature policies. Pages need enough real text, must not be ad-heavy or low-value, and each click must lead to results relevant to the term clicked.
Publishers may suggest their own terms through the terms parameter, though Google chooses what to show. Since 1 November 2025, when traffic comes from a source the publisher controls, the exact wording of the ad that brought the visitor must be passed in referrerAdCreative. Ads and links leading to the page must describe it accurately. The details are covered under RSOC policies.
Think of it like this
It is like a magazine article about kitchens with a box at the end saying "People also look for: kitchen fitters, worktop prices". Tap one and you are shown a page of relevant tradespeople's adverts.
An example
A reader arrives on an article about hearing loss, taps "hearing aid prices", lands on the site's results page and clicks an audiologist's sponsored listing. Only that last click earns money.
Related terms
Related search terms
Related search terms are clickable search suggestions shown on a page, each of which opens a results page of ads for that phrase.
Terms parameter
The terms parameter is an optional field in a Google related search request where the publisher lists its own suggested search terms, separated by commas.
referrerAdCreative
referrerAdCreative is a Google AdSense for Search parameter in which a publisher must send the exact wording of the ad that brought a visitor to a related search page.
RSOC policies
RSOC policies are Google's rules for the related-search unit on content pages: real standalone content, honest search terms, honest upstream ads and a fully declared ad creative.
Content page (article lander)
A content page is an article-style landing page that carries related search units, used to monetise visitors through Related Search on Content.
Two-click flow
A two-click flow is a monetisation path where the visitor first clicks a keyword and then clicks a search ad, with only the second click earning money.
