Search feeds · also called N2S, native search arbitrage

Native-to-search (N2S)

Native-to-search is buying visitors from native ad widgets on news sites and sending them to a page that earns from search ads.

The short answer, from the The Arbitrage Desk glossary

Native-to-search, or N2S, pairs native advertising as the traffic source with a search feed as the income. The operator buys the "recommended for you" style placements that appear under articles on news sites, usually through a content recommendation widget network. The visitor clicks the native ad and lands on the operator's page, most often a content page with related search units.

Native clicks are comparatively cheap and available in huge volume, which made N2S the dominant model for years. The catch is intent. A reader who clicked a curious headline was not looking for a product, so the page has to connect the headline to a relevant search honestly.

That link between headline and page is where regulation has focused. Google requires that the ad or link bringing a visitor accurately describes what the destination offers, and since 1 November 2025 the ad's full wording must be supplied in referrerAdCreative. Headlines that exaggerate, the classic clickbait, now put the feed itself at risk and not just the ad account.

An example

For example, a native ad reading "What new windows cost in 2026" costs $0.08 a click. On the article, 40% click a related search and 50% of those click an ad worth $0.60. Revenue per visitor is $0.12.
