What happened to AdSense for Domains (AFD)?
Google wound it down. From September 2024 new Google Ads accounts were no longer opted in to parked domains. From 19 March 2025 existing accounts were opted out in batches, with the last reported in September 2025. On 10 February 2026 Google removed parked domains as an ad surface in its Search Partner Network altogether.
AdSense for Domains put Google search ads on a parked domain, a web address with no real site. For two decades it funded domain parking and, in its arbitrage form, a large share of Native-to-search traffic.
The effect on the industry was severe and is documented in company reports. Team Internet cut about 200 jobs after the September 2025 change, according to Domain Name Wire. Sedo's parent reported a 66% year-on-year revenue fall for the business in the third quarter of 2025 and put it up for sale. Bodis closed its parking service on 31 January 2026. Providers moved to Related Search on Content, Yahoo-based feeds and zero-click parking, none of which has replaced the lost volume so far.
