What MGID does
MGID is a native advertising network founded in 2008. It places recommended-content ads on publisher sites and is especially present in Europe, Asia and Latin America. The company says it works with more than 32,000 publishers and has over 700 staff across a dozen offices.
Performance marketers, including search arbitrage buyers, use it as a cheaper alternative or supplement to Taboola and Outbrain, particularly for traffic outside the United States. Campaign tools such as TheOptimizer list it among their supported sources.
How it makes money
Advertisers pay per click; MGID pays publishers a share for carrying the widgets and keeps the rest.
Where it meets invalid traffic
MGID states that it is TAG certified and works with outside fraud-detection vendors. Smaller native networks vary a lot in traffic quality from one placement to the next, so buyers rely on a blocklist.
