What does a search arbitrage media buyer do?

A media buyer runs the advertising that brings visitors in. Day to day they research topics and keywords, write and test adverts, set budgets and bids on platforms such as Meta or Taboola, watch revenue per visit against cost, pause what loses and scale what earns, and keep everything within the feed's and the ad platform's policies.

Short answer · The Arbitrage Desk

The media buyer owns the daily profit and loss of a set of campaigns. Mornings usually start with yesterday's finalised or updated revenue, a check of which creatives and placements moved, and adjustments to bid strategy. Much of the work is creative testing, since adverts wear out.

In larger teams the role sits beside content writers, a compliance reviewer, an analyst and someone managing provider relationships. Pay often includes a share of profit, which rewards skill but can tempt buyers toward aggressive creatives. Good employers counter that with pre-launch review and by measuring buyers on finalised revenue after deductions.
